Marie Kondo and moving on

I've been doing Marie Kondo to my house and I LOVE it. I'm not one that hoards or hangs on to 'stuff,' but I've found with this method, I've discovered things I forgot I had, or that I haven't used and want to again.
Instead of getting rid of stuff I don't like or use or wear, Kondo teaches to keep the things you love, or things that 'spark joy.' And that is a game changer, folks!

I actually feel lighter, if that's possible. I have only the things I want and will use. I still have to go through the kitchen and papers part of Kondo, but I have no worries that I will soon and will love the results.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because I went through my writing tote...a tote full of notebooks and loose papers. It was so exciting to find forgotten poems, ideas and partly written stories. The spark for writing is slowly coming alive again. I've hit a hard spot recently. With a daughter coming home from a church mission and one getting married, plus everything else going on during summer, and everyone home, I haven't had the time or privacy to write.

I'm going to post a few of my things as I clean out my writing mess. And then, then, I might be done with this blog. I've been wondering if it's a distraction. I like to post my conference notes and other ideas that I hope will help me be a better writer, but honestly, I've never looked at them again.

I've enjoyed keeping this blog.
I've enjoyed writing here. I'm sure it's helped with my other writing.

"It isn't for want" Poem by Cid Corman

It isnt for want
of something to say--
something to tell you--

something you should know--
but to detain you--
keep you from going--

feeling myself here
as long as you are--
as long as you are.

Poems and Poetry

Well, well, well.

Today is the last day of April, thus, the last day of poetry month.
While I didn't get a poem on my blog for everyday I did learn! I had no idea how many different ways a person could write a poem!

I posted several poems to Authspot if you would like to read any of them.

Question Poem

This poetry pattern can be used to question anyone or anything. It can be rhyming or free verse.

When will we heal
How will it feel
Who will know
When the crimson snow
Will purify
By our loss

Color Poetry

Choose a color and describe or compare things that have that color.

White is... a lily in my summer garden
White is...purity
White is... the snap of freshly laundered sheets
White is...sugar
White tastes like...marshmellows
White smells like...snow
White sounds like...peace
White feels like...softness
White looks like...billowy clouds
White makes me...calm
White is....heaven

Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia are words that sound like the objects they name or the sounds those objects makes.

My summer garden buzzes with bees
The wind rustles through the leaves
Sprinklers hiss and come alive
The plants drink in moisture to survive
Water droplets drip, drop to the ground

Laughter from children echoes across the span
While picking and eating the berries in hand
Crunch! Goes a cucumber, fresh and warm
Through the garden the children swarm
Where happiness and food abound
