A little over a year ago I decided to try and write a book. It was an LDS story. I wrote and wrote and then didn't know what to do. How do I edit? Where do I send in my story? How do I really get started?
I read a blog post, probably on Six Frogs and a Writer. OOPS! I mean, Six Writers and a Frog. (heehee). The post talked about networking.
Since the story I wrote had LDS influences I checked out books written by LDS authors. I went to book signings and put names and face together.
Then I read about LDStorymakers conference and knew I needed to go.
I went to LDStorymakers conference last April and blogged about it here and pictures here.
The conference was full of great advice, book signings and laughter. I learned about genre, editing, setting the scenes, making a character come alive and becoming a polished and published author. And not to mention all the amazing authors you'll meet!
This conference is not just for those who write LDS books. Anyone who writes is invited. Anyone is wants to write is invited.
Let me know if you are going!
LDStorymakers conference
April 23-24, 2010
Provo Marriott Hotel
There is a contest on the LDStorymakers blog Make Me a Story . If you win, you get to sit by Jessica Day George, David Wolverton/Farland, Krista Marino, Shaun Barrows and James Q. Dashner at dinner on Friday night. I guarantee you'll have fun. If not, I'm sure Rob Wells, Matthew Buckley and others will have board games set up next door.
