Summer Book Trek! How many books can you ready in July?

My writing has been off. I mean, really off. As in I haven't wanted to write or edit. My muse has abandoned me. This is what happens when a writer sends out full manuscripts with the hope of it finding a home and then the dream is dashed. But I keep submitting. What else am I going to do?  Submit and read. That's what I've been doing for the last two months. Submit and read. So I'm going to take the Summer Book Trek challenge and read some more books in July. And now that I've actually set that goal, my muse is going to show up at the front door and I won't want to read.  On to happier topics.

Karlene is running her annual Summer Book Trek. Here is the link if you want to join and win books!
My July reading list:

I do have other books ready to go for July but I don't think any of the authors are LDS (mostly from netgalley):

ELEMENTAL HUNGER by Elana Johnson!

Another fantastic, can't-put-the-book down, ohmyword plot twist story by Elana Coolness Johnson.
You should buy them all.

About Elemental Rush:Eighteen-year-old Adam Gillman has trained for twelve years to earn a coveted spot on the Supreme Elemental’s elite sentry squad. His brother, Felix, is the commander, but Adam is still thrilled when his official assignment to serve Alexander Pederson comes.

He moves into nicer quarters and can stop getting up at four a.m. to complete his mandated work out time. He still rises early though, because he needs the solitude of early morning to practice his airmaking Element—something that Adam has kept secret from everyone, even Felix, because he can’t be both an Airmaker and a sentry.

When Alex assigns him to kill a group of rogue Elementals, he balks at completing his mission for the first time. See, his only friend is Isaiah Hawking, and he’s the Earthmover on the accused Council. When faced with the prospect of killing him, Adam finds he c…

Playlist cont. Imagine Dragons- Demons (Official Video)

Here is a song that I listened to often while writing my WIP:

When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold

When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood’s run stale

I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There’s nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide

At the curtain’s call
It's the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl

So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you made

Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel …

Jim Carrey Commencement Speech | Go after your dreams! Moving video

Totally worth one minute of your time.

"So many of us choose life out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never ask the universe for it."

Here is the whole speech:

Playlist for my WIP Stars- Dead Hearts (Official video)

Here is a song Julie Daines thought fit will with my book (and I have to agree):

"Dead Hearts"

Tell me everything that happened
Tell me everything you saw
They had lights inside their eyes
They had lights inside their eyes

Did you see the closing window?
Did you hear the slamming door?
They moved forward, my heart died
They moved forward, my heart died

Please, please tell me what they look like
Did they seem afraid of you?
They were kids that I once knew
They were kids that I once knew

I could say it, but you won't believe me
You say you do, but you don't deceive me
It's hard to know they're out there
It's hard to know that you still care
I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don't deceive me
Dead hearts are everywhere
Dead hearts are everywhere

Did you touch them, did you hold them?
Did they follow you to town?
They make me feel I'm falling down
They make me feel I'm falling down

Was there one you saw too clearl…
