So many books by Stephen King are scary, like It. I also loved The Reapers are the Angels, but I don't know whether that would really classify as "scary", but more like "creepy".

I like Watchers by Dean Koontz. It's not terribly scary so it's just my speed. I've read it several times - I really like the dog character best.

I don't have any favorites that I've read in terms of scary, but the two authors I enjoy the most for that sort of thing are Anne Rice and Stephen King (I know...cliche' King!).

I thought The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters was not too scary but kind of creepy. I enjoyed reading it. Also, I remember when I was a kid I loved reading books by R.L. Stine. Some of those were pretty scary.
