This is a great idea!
One time I really appreciated someone showing our family love was when our son was in the hospital having lung surgery. It was the week of Valentine's. My daughter attended her activity days group with another friend of hers. While there, the leaders had the girls cut out hearts and write loving thoughts on them. They told the girls it was for a family who needed some extra love right now. They baked cookies, then piled in a van and started driving. As they drove, my daughter was telling another girl that her family lived up this way. Then when they pulled onto our street, she said "Hey, we live on this street too!" When they pulled into our drive way, my daughter was like, "This is my house!" Then she got all teary. Her leaders gave her lots of hugs, then they "heart attacked" our house for when we came home from the hospital. My daughter got to take the cookies with her to another friend's house where she was staying while we were with our son. It was such an awesome thing for both my daughter - to know her leaders loved her. And for me - to know they were praying for our family and were so thoughtful.
A girl I never met, but whom I knew through her sister, went to the SLC airport to pick me up when I came to BYU and became one of my greatest friends.

DAnyelle, yours is such a sweet story. Made me teary-eyed too.
About 10 years ago, my husband was out of work, and it was Christmas time. We'd used up alot of our food storage. And what little money we did have we used to pay car & house payments. One night the door bell rang, and under the
door mat was $100 ! We were so happy, and excited. We had enough for Christmas!
It was also nice just to know someone cared.
